01Scope
This policy applies to everyone using an ExtHive extension or this website, on free and paid plans alike. It forms part of the Terms of Use, and terms defined there carry the same meaning here.
02What you must not do
Unlawful activity
- Use the Services to commit, plan or conceal a criminal offence.
- Capture, process or distribute material that is unlawful to possess in your jurisdiction, including child sexual abuse material.
- Infringe copyright, trademark, trade secret or other intellectual property rights.
- Violate the privacy or data protection rights of others, including capturing personal data you have no lawful basis to process.
Harm to people
- Capture or monitor someone’s screen, messages or activity without their knowledge and consent, where consent is required.
- Use captures to harass, stalk, dox, defame, blackmail or intimidate.
- Fabricate or alter a capture to misrepresent what a person or organisation said or did.
- Deploy an extension onto someone else’s device covertly, or configure it to hide its presence from them.
Circumvention and abuse
- Bypass licence checks, plan limits or any technical protection measure.
- Share, resell or sublicense a licence key beyond what your plan permits.
- Reverse engineer the Services to build a competing product, or extract detection rules for redistribution.
- Interfere with the operation of the Services, or attempt to gain unauthorised access to our systems or another user’s data.
- Automate the Services at a volume intended to degrade them for others.
Misrepresentation
- Present Prompt Guard, or any output from it, as a guarantee of regulatory compliance or as certification that a prompt is safe.
- Claim affiliation with, endorsement by, or partnership with ExtHive without our written agreement.
03Your responsibility
You are responsible for having the right to use the Services on the content you point them at. That includes obtaining any consent needed to capture a screen containing another person’s data, and complying with your employer’s or client’s policies.
Our detection features reduce the chance of a mistake. They do not transfer responsibility for one. Prompt Guard is a safety net, not a compliance control, and no detector catches everything.
04How we enforce this
Because our extensions run locally and we do not monitor your content, we generally learn about a breach only when it is reported to us or becomes public.
When we do, our response is proportionate: usually a warning first, then suspension, then termination of the licence without refund for serious or repeated breaches. For activity that endangers someone, we act immediately and may report it to the relevant authorities.
We will tell you why we took action and give you a route to dispute it, unless a legal obligation prevents us.
05Reporting abuse
If you believe someone is using an ExtHive extension in breach of this policy, email legal@exthive.com with as much detail as you can. We review every report and reply. If you are reporting a security vulnerability instead, please see the contact page.
