Do ExtHive extensions collect my browsing data?

No. Our extensions process your content locally in your browser. We do not receive the pages you visit, the screenshots you take or the prompts you write. Neither shipped extension has an account system, so the only personal data we hold about anyone is a support email they chose to send us.

Do I need an account?

Accepted Answer

No. Snapshot Studio has no account at all: no sign-up, no licence, no server it talks to. Every extension states its answer plainly on its product page, under Privacy, before you install it — so you can check before you install rather than after.

Which features involve your servers rather than my device?

Accepted Answer

None. Snapshot Studio contains no network code whatsoever — no telemetry, no analytics, no settings sync, and nothing to opt out of. If a future extension adds an optional hosted feature, it will be documented on that extension's page and in its privacy policy before it ships, and it will be something you switch on rather than something you inherit.

Why does an extension need access to page content?

Accepted Answer

Because it has to read the page to capture it. That access is granted by the browser at the moment you invoke the feature; it is not a channel back to us. Every permission and its exact reason is listed on each extension's product page and in its own privacy policy.

Which browsers do you support?

Accepted Answer

Chrome, Edge, Brave, Arc and other Chromium-based browsers are supported today. Firefox builds are in progress and each extension's page shows its current status per browser. Safari is not supported yet.

Are the free extensions limited trials?

Accepted Answer

No. There is no time limit and no card needed to install. Snapshot Studio is free in full: every capture mode, the whole editor and every export format, with no watermark and no metering.

Will you start charging for this later?

Accepted Answer

We expect to sell licences eventually, but not by taking away what is free today. A paid tier would cover capabilities that do not exist yet — central policy management, shared configuration, organisation reporting — and it would be announced before it shipped. Until then there is nothing to buy and no card to enter.

How do I report a security vulnerability?

Email support@ext-hive.com with the details and, if you can, a proof of concept. We acknowledge reports within one business day, will not pursue anyone acting in good faith, and will credit you in the release notes if you would like us to.

Does Snapshot Studio upload my screenshots anywhere?

Accepted Answer

No. Capture, stitching, redaction, annotation, beautifying and export all happen inside your browser using the Canvas API. Snapshot Studio has no backend server, no account system and no analytics on your captures. Nothing you capture ever leaves your machine unless you export and share it yourself.

Yes — every capture mode, the full editor and all export formats are free, with no watermarks, no capture limits and no trial period. Snapshot Studio is how we introduce people to ExtHive, and we intend to keep it free.

What can it see of the pages I visit?

Accepted Answer

Nothing, until you ask it to. Snapshot Studio requests no host permissions at install, so it has no standing access to any site — that is why your browser does not warn you about site data when you add it. Clicking the toolbar icon grants access to that one tab, at that one moment, through the activeTab permission. It reads the tab in order to draw a picture of it, and it transmits nothing it reads.

Why does it ask for the debugger permission?

For the device-size shot, and nothing else. Reflowing a tab to a phone, tablet or laptop viewport can only be done through the DevTools protocol, which is what that permission grants. It attaches for the length of that one capture and detaches immediately afterwards, and Chrome shows its own banner the whole time anything is attached, so you can see exactly when it happens. No other capture mode uses it.

Where do my past captures live?

Accepted Answer

In a history kept in local extension storage on your device, so you can reopen, download or delete earlier work. It is not synced, not backed up by us, and not visible to anyone else. Deleting an entry deletes it; uninstalling the extension removes the lot.

Can it capture pages behind a login?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Snapshot Studio captures whatever your browser is already rendering, so authenticated dashboards, internal tools and staging environments all work exactly like public pages.

What about very long pages?

Accepted Answer

Pages tens of thousands of pixels tall are captured in segments and stitched into one image. Very tall captures eventually meet your browser's maximum canvas size; exporting as PDF is the way around that ceiling.
